Authentic Holistic Living
An unplanned journey of self discovery and small business life, with a few beautiful bumps along the road
Where there’s a will, there’s a way, they say.
Even if it’s an unconscious one at the start. A deep soul remembrance - clouded in a whole heap of strange, empowering, dark experiences, including NDE’s and small business life battles - of knowing that we can live differently and connect with our mind, body and spirit in so many expansive ways, if we choose to.
The choices we make today subsequently guide us to our true purpose, peace, joy, and life-long resilience. All it takes is a little time, faith, self-love and dedication.
Back when I began evaluating my life in January 2020 (following the crash, bang, wollop after unexpected redundancy and a few other situations at the end of 2019), and with the approach of the Age of Aquarius swirling in my mind, I always knew that the work I desired to move into would be aligned with my truest, realest self - my authentic self.
For me, and those who know and work with me (like me, or not), this has always been a philosophy I’ve been raised to live by. I can’t really be fake.
My face has a hard job of hiding emotions, my tongue has always needed to speak its truth (more gently, I’m ever learning, yet not without firmness when needed), and my heart feels heavy when I don’t lead with intention and integrity.
Moreover, the way I’ve viewed life in this game of adulting, has always been holistic (even if it was more immaturely imbalanced back in the day) because I generally take a 360 approach to living.
And with the trials, initiations and tribulations we all move through at varying stages of our lives, something I never regret is that I’ve lived my life to the fullest, with all the pain and beauty that accompanies this. I never prioritised work or money over my personal life. I always worked hard and aimed to leave things better than I found them, of course, as this was something that I learnt from my parents. But I also made sure I spent time with friends, family, and most importantly for my soul, I travelled about quite a bit, and a lot by myself.
Because, if we’re not living (the old soul in me knew, before my human did), then we might as well be dead, and as I love life, I desired to show my gratitude to the people who raised me, those who’ve shown me love and others I continue to respect and admire, that I choose life. I choose to experience and learn as much as I can in this lifetime, without forcing, fussing, or staying down when it all crumbles in front of our eyes.
And voila’, my small business, VWellness - Authentic Holistic Living was born, and she has most certainly evolved over the years, just like I have, reviewing offerings and changing course unexpectedly.
I believe this is what happens to most small business owners who support conscious soul work and collective healing. We’re all in a constant state of expansion, especially with the current upgrades and illuminations, and it feels very important to treat our work like an organic, breathing collection of intentional practices.
So, after an unconscious and unplanned start to my soul remembrance and life purpose, it slowly became more conscious, the more I could internally and externally witness positive change.
There are several ways we can be hindered in what some of us might consider a toxic, modern society, but without leading this in a victim mentality, when we decide to take charge and accountability of our actions in this life, it’s never just one area that we look at, is it?
Ensuring that we don’t get overwhelmed by the bombardment of information on our screens (avoid the doomscrolling), nor straying too far from using our natural, powerful tool of intuition, many of us start to try out new school health regimes, old school fitness hacks, research deeper, observe energy and flow into a process of evolution, or better yet, deprogramming, however this may land in our lives.
Since I set up shop, from community sound baths and women’s circles, private sound therapy massage and end of life blessings, through to ceremonial work with psilocybin and short-term wellness support, I’ve been on what feels like a big old tour of the self and the galaxies, far and wide.
With this in mind, as I’ve recently been asked by a few clients and friends about my wellness practices, I thought I’d mention some of the ways I help maintain my spiritual, emotional, mental and physical health at this moment in time.
This is shared with balance and alignment at the core. Nothing I do is obsessive (I learnt this the hard way), and at present, with my temporary nomadic life, I can’t be too precious about anything. I simply aim to be disciplined as much as I’m humanly able, because I feel a negative difference otherwise.
Over the past four years, between the earth ages of 35-39, I’ve been consistently delving deeper into the following (all shared here without judgement, they are simply practices I feel personally empowered by, gain pleasure from doing and blend into my work):
observing behaviour and habits (sleep, limiting belief systems, patterns, obsessions, compulsions and addictions)
studying energy and frequency in a variety of ways
meditating and training as a mindfulness practitioner training (daily meditation of any kind is powerful)
working with sound frequencies and, of course, MUSIC (intentional sessions with instruments, singing bowls, playlists and dancing)
inner child healing, through personal ceremony and conscious psilocybin exploration
womb and sexual healing (learning about archetypes, sacred sensuality, energy exchange and abstinence, with this current challenging abstinence period lasting for over one year now, a temporary learning curve instructed by Spirit, ffs)
heart healing (working with the power of the rose and homemade oils have been very significant here)
shadow work (observing the mystic, dark feminine and hidden wounding)
conscious work with balancing divine feminine and divine masculine internal energies
generational and ancestral healing (altar creation, daily spiritual health and cleansing practices, connection to guides)
dedicating myself to love, romance, natural beauty, the elemental realms and other subjects that make my soul sing (fairy magic forever)
reveiwing life, death and deeper thoughts around reality and life transitions through end of life doula training and client work
soul alignment (sporadic shamanic soul retrieval via brutal life initiations, a twin flame realisation and intense past life connections)
unplanned shamanic awakening (becoming a drum owner and working with drums has been pivotal)
going refined sugar-free (my whole body and gut health has transformed)
increasing clean water daily intake
cutting out alcohol over four years ago now (I observe ‘spirits’ differently these days)
conscious intuitive eating, intermittant fasting and food growing (learning a lot from volunteer farm work and setting up a small garden veg patch to slowly practice first hand and see the importance of ingredients and how important farmers are)
mostly plants, dairy-free cooking (learning a lot about Ital cooking and natural foods when living in Jamaica for four months impacted me massively)
decluttering clothes and possessions and working towards more conscious consumption
intentional detoxing lifestyle (sauna, regular heavy metal detox and balancing alkaline/acid in the body, swerving fake foods with emulsifiers, additives, fillers and chemicals as much as possible)
non-toxic bodycare and homecare (I wrote a blog piece on this a few years ago that I still follow, particularly no SLS products and fluoride free toothpaste)
becoming more aware of the impact of EMF’s, turning wifi off, using shungite or other ways to shield our physical bodies from harmful frequencies, if we so believe, not obsessively but more in a preventative manner
fitness (long-distance nature walking, working on farms at times, backpack carrying, bodyweight work and daily stretching)
sound healing work with my singing bowls on my body
uptake in herbs, homegrown sprouts and spices (cooking from scratch and daily herbal teas as a preventative health measure).
Whichever path we choose, or stumble upon, and however ugly it feels at first (snot, sweat and tears as standard), it’s important that we lean into uncomfortableness and give something a try for a while, before we decide if it’s for us or not. Over time, as we know, some of the results can be life-changing. Soul satiating, even.
That said, I’m definitely not a purist. I’ve worked, and still do, to pull myself out of my own cycles and karmic loops of evolving, stumbling, re-healing and the occasional naughty bits and bobs (yes, I still like me some crisps and chips sometimes). But, I think what’s been an important reflection for me, is that I never lose sight of balance, faith and the bigger picture.
In terms of the pillars that I felt underpinned my life when I began VWellness, through to today, I’m resharing my values here:
INTENTION - What is the intention behind your actions? Does it serve your higher self? It’s helpful to move with intention towards a desired outcome.
TRUST - The foundation of all healthy relationships. How can you move towards a more trusting space? Trust you’re exactly where you need to be. Trust the process.
INTEGRITY - Do you act with integrity and honesty with yourself, and those around you? Are you being authentic in your actions, or are you wearing a mask?
DISCIPLINE - ‘Discipline is the basic set of tools we require to solve life’s problems. Without discipline we can solve nothing...with total discipline, we can solve all problems.’ M.Scott Peck - The Road Less Travelled
FLUIDITY - Move like water. Maintain a flow state mentality motivated by our goals, but being present and enjoying exactly where we are right now.
LOVE - Love of self and of others. True personal growth and fulfilment is rooted in love and belonging. Are you truly living from the heart. ‘Transmute energy before you transmit it.’ - Gabor Maté
In summary, I guess this is just a short share to say never give up. We can create the reality we desire, the life we choose to live, and the legacy we wish to leave on the planet.
Let’s stay true, focus, and rise to the challenge that is la vida loca right now, in our own unique ways. The energies supporting our individual expansion and collective ascension are absolutely phenomenal, if we choose to believe.
Believing is seeing. Power to the people.
